About Alexandra

Greetings!  As the owner of Sterling Engagements, I truly am humbled that you’ve taken the time to not only read about my company but also about me!  I’m a complex young woman with an old soul that loves nothing more in this world than pleasing others.  I take pride in everything I do and it truly reflects in my work always.  I’m a perfectionist with an eye for detail, a never-ending hunger for challenges and I have impeccable taste.

For as long as I can remember, my grandmother has always engraved in my mind what she calls “the 3-D’s”, desire, dedication and determination.  I live by these words everyday and use them consistently while working on each and every event I do.  Each one is as important to me as the next and I always make sure that my involvement is consistent.  We are a boutique firm specifically to allow me the opportunity to work with each of my clients and provide them with that extra special personal service.

The journey that led to Sterling Engagements is very special to me and I hold it close to my heart.

My career in events started far before I even knew it.  At 11, I decided my involvement in the homeowner’s association block party was more than necessary.  One day, I picked up the phone, called the committee and found out exactly what they were missing.  Turns out they were lacking in the food and beverage department.  That day, I spent all morning through afternoon calling every local place in the phone book that I could find.  By early evening, I proudly called the committee back to report to them that they now had donations for both food and beverages from all our local restaurants.  I managed to do all the coordination on my own in between daily activities and homework, and even received a small spot in our local newsletter.

At 16, I was old enough to start waitressing and got my first real serving job.  From then on, I continued to work at various restaurants always working private parties.  I worked nonstop at as many functions as I could and even managed to get a job working special events at the Playboy Mansion.  I planned my own Bat Mitzvah, every birthday party for both friends and myself and still had no idea that this field would soon be my career.  In college, I managed to get an internship at an event company through a friend who happened to be leaving the position.  Within one month of starting my internship, I worked my very first event as a production assistant.  The event was a high-profile award show after party, I worked a 16-hour day and by the end of it, I was truly in love.

I worked at various event production and wedding planning companies while working on my Bachelor’s Degree.  I graduated from California State University Northridge with a degree in Journalism and an emphasis in Public Relations.  Upon graduating, I jumped right into a Catering Coordinator position at a prestigious law firm in Santa Monica.  I worked my way up and eventually was promoted as their Event Coordinator.  In addition, I assisted a name partner, who happens to be one of the best entertainment litigator’s around.  It was a wonderful experience and I worked with a multitude of clients.  I had a gratifying journey throughout my time at the firm but eventually had to leave and pursue my passion with Sterling Engagements.

The rest is history in the making…
